Meet Avery.

My sports background is in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics as a competitive athlete starting at age 8.  Last year, I retired from competitive gymnastics and I knew I needed to find something that was going to help me maintain my strength.  I spent my whole childhood building those muscles so staying strong was very important to me.  During my gymnastics training, our team had partnered with Fit Collective to enhance our conditioning.  I really enjoyed challenging myself to learn new skills and loved meeting the expectations of Coach Marlene.  So, starting CrossFit at Fit Collective seemed like a natural next step. I was very excited to start training there in July 2024.  Very quickly I fell in love with this type of fitness and was so inspired by the people that make this place a community.

I began my coaching career in gymnastics by completing a Coach in Training program in June of 2022, following which I started coaching recreational gymnastics.  I obtained my SafeSport certification and my Sport Specific Foundations training in the Fall of 2023.  And, I am very excited to complete my Competition I training in the Summer of 2025.  I have experience in coaching children from toddlers in a parent and tot program, through to age 12 at a beginner or intermediate level.  This season I also started as a junior coach for a competitive gymnastics training group - which I love.

To find a job at a young age that I am passionate about it truly a blessing.  I am so impressed by what little kids can do and feel so much pride in helping them achieve great things.

Having an opportunity to coach youth at FitCo is a natural extension of my experience.  I am so excited to learn from the great team of coaches here.  And I am happy to bring my existing skill set to a new group of young people.
